Then I noticed the T元09-230-5R boolit mold. That helped but I could see I wasn't going to get within a couple of hundred fps of subsonic at that rate. Also, I started tuning the recoil spring by shortening it a bit. That helped but I was only able to shave off a hundred or two fps, still supersonic when the action started having cycle issues. Since my bore was kind of large I tried their C312-185 mold for the. Looking at other subsonic round data, I needed a heavier bullet. I started with Lee's C312-155-2R but at that weight at a powder charge big enough to cycle the action adequately I was in the 1500fps range, nowhere near subsonic. As I got lower, in velocity I started having cycling issues. Had some leading until I got down to around 1500 fps with gas check. I started casting with molds for AK 7.62 rounds at the nominal. I've slugged the barrel and it mikes out at. With the help of a friend who likes to put together rifles and some nice replacement parts I have a very nice looking rifle. It started life as one of those "kits" purchased for $99 at a gun show. Recently I've been on a quest to find a good subsonic combo for my 7.62x39 Romanian AK47. 44 mag I'm shooting reduced loads just to save wear and tear on the gun and be slightly kinder to the poor soul next to me at the range when I take my cannon. So, I'm seriously interested in subsonic with a "can." Even for my. I live in the country where it's legal to shoot but over the years the farms keep turning into subdivisions and the neighbors get closer. I mostly target shoot at the range and plink. I'm relatively new to bullet casting and somewhat new to reloading but I'm having a great time with it so far. Bottom line though is the experimenting with what you want to do brought us the 300 black out.I looked around to see if this thread was already in play but I didn't find any likely contenders so pardon if this is in the wrong place and feel free to move it Even if cast bullets are 308-309 you can use pc coating on them and gain enough to work at 311. My go to load in mine with a suppressor is 4.5 grains of unique and a 130 cast spitzer. That way I can use any bullet weight and a light charge of powder. Anymore I use subsonic in my American in 300 bo. Subsonic loads are DIRTY! Your constantly cleaning your gun. I did that and still wasn't really happy. Bottom line is it would be a lot less bother to buy or put together a 300 blackout upper. 762s are tough to get a 100 percent reliable with supersonic. It will probably take drilling out your gas port and getting an adjustable gas block. Then you may have problems with getting enough gas to run the action. Id start with a standard 3 oz and a standard carbine spring. good chance you have something other then a standard 3 oz carbine buffer in there and maybe even a heavy spring. Add to that that about all the heavy bullets are 308 and not 311 so make sure your gun has a 308 barrel. seated that deep most bullets are going to be to the point your trying to get a grip where the bullet is tapering into a nose. That prevents seating bullets made for the bo out far enough to get a grip on the bullet by the neck. Problem your going to run into in ars is the round is already long for the magazine.
